Uses for Posterous

If you have not heard about Posterous, I do invite you to click on the link and go check it out.  I promise you you´ll love it and will make your eyes glow and your head spin with ideas on how you can use it.  In fact, I believe there are blog posts filled with ways to use it.  Go check them out!

In short words, Posterous is a service that allows you to create several online spaces (sites).  It allows collaborative contributions by anyone you decide.  It is been used by several educators already due to it´s nice interface, customization, and ease of use.



Here are some ideas on how you can use Posterous in your classroom:

1. Collaborative blogging. Students send blog posts to the posterous space designated for it.  If you assign them a topic, you will end up having all essays into one space.

2. Homework pad. Assign a student or a group of students a subject. These students will be in charge of posting every HW for the class they were assigned. You could even rotate roles. As comments, you could have them make questions about such work or project.  Of course, this if your students have not created a Facebook group instead already.

3. Open a space to share pictures of school/classroom activities. Have parents suscribe to these posts so they get a feel of what is taking place in the classroom.  Yes, I know that is not an easy job.

4. You can embed live streaming to brooadcast a presentation. Invite parents to join in while you are live broadcasting a project.  You can embed services such as Ustream, Stickam, Spreecast, etc.  

Posterous helps you build social media and collaboration skills on your students.  Go give it a try, you will love it.
